Social Media Addiction is Real, Folks.

Seriously people. Get over yourselves, all of you. I don’t care what side you are on because both major candidates are horrible human-beings. Your FB outrage will not change the election, but it does change my opinion of many people who I thought were functional adults.

Stop letting social media run your lives, take a deep breath of fresh air, physically go out and see your friends in REAL LIFE and live your darn lives already. Life is short and time is precious, so stop wasting it living out a literal representation of the 20th season of Southpark. I am only 26 years old; I should not have to be the voice of reason.

Shared from NPR:

“But the vast majority of emails — some of them nearing 1,000 words in length — read like testimonials to a therapist: I’m having a hard time focusing. I have questioned my friendships. I can’t stop scrolling. I’m exhausted. One email to NPR ended with: ‘It was good to get that off my chest.’ People are turning off TVs (one even canceled her cable — mass media are not off the hook, either), deleting social apps from their phones, rationing time spent on Facebook and Twitter, and shrinking their digital friend lists.”

What a disgrace!! These brave men and women who are FORTUNATE enough to make it back home after their tour of duty should be treated like ROYALTY, not like something to be swept under the rug. The way that our current Government disrespects and ignores our war Veterans is utterly deplorable… Continue reading

Knowing How Doctors Die Can Change End-Of-Life Discussions

“Nora Zamichow says if she and her husband, Mark Saylor, had known how doctors die, they might have made different treatment decisions for him toward the end of his life.” ~Maya Sugarman/KPCC

Morning to you all!  It has been a while since I’ve posted anything (just as I foretold,) but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share this article with you.

Have you ever had one of those moments in life when a photo, an article, a sound or a taste somehow resonates with you on a deeper or spiritual level, so much so that you end up unearthing a well full of gut-wrenching emotions that you thought you no longer had the capacity to feel?  That is basically where I am right now.  I am at the bottom of my well. An Uber Driver With A Concealed Handgun Prevented A Mass Shooting In Chicago

According to Adam Bates of the CATO Institute, a driver with the ride-hailing service Uber put a stop to a potential mass shooting in Chicago over the weekend.  Here’s the Chicago Tribune, citing Assistant State’s Attorney Barry Quinn:

A group of people had been walking in front of the driver around 11:50 p.m. in the 2900 block of North Milwaukee Avenue when [the assailant] Everardo Custodio, 22, began firing into the crowd, Quinn said.

The driver pulled out a handgun and fired six shots at Custodio, hitting him several times, according to court records.  Responding officers found Custodio lying on the ground, bleeding, Quinn said.  No other injuries were reported.

The driver will not be charged: The driver had a concealed-carry permit and acted in the defense of himself and others, Assistant State’s Attorney Barry Quinn said in court Sunday.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again: The only thing that stops a BAD-guy with a gun, is a GOOD-guy with a gun.

So a County Sheriff just stalked Ralph and I for almost half of our walk before finally getting out of his car and asking to pet him.  I’m not going to lie, I thought it was pretty cute!

Little did I know that the Officer had just put down his 13 year old beagle last week.

His heartache was palpable and I’m sure that spending some time with my little guy helped him in some way, but little did he know, for I needed that interaction as well.
