It feels good to have silky straightened hair again! Today is not only my anniversary with my LEO; it’s also my one year hair anniversary! This time last year, I did the “Big Chop” and kissed my precious locks goodbye! Continue reading
What a disgrace!! These brave men and women who are FORTUNATE enough to make it back home after their tour of duty should be treated like ROYALTY, not like something to be swept under the rug. The way that our current Government disrespects and ignores our war Veterans is utterly deplorable… Continue reading
Morning to you all! It has been a while since I’ve posted anything (just as I foretold,) but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share this article with you.
Have you ever had one of those moments in life when a photo, an article, a sound or a taste somehow resonates with you on a deeper or spiritual level, so much so that you end up unearthing a well full of gut-wrenching emotions that you thought you no longer had the capacity to feel? That is basically where I am right now. I am at the bottom of my well. Continue reading
According to Adam Bates of the CATO Institute, a driver with the ride-hailing service Uber put a stop to a potential mass shooting in Chicago over the weekend. Here’s the Chicago Tribune, citing Assistant State’s Attorney Barry Quinn:
A group of people had been walking in front of the driver around 11:50 p.m. in the 2900 block of North Milwaukee Avenue when [the assailant] Everardo Custodio, 22, began firing into the crowd, Quinn said.
The driver pulled out a handgun and fired six shots at Custodio, hitting him several times, according to court records. Responding officers found Custodio lying on the ground, bleeding, Quinn said. No other injuries were reported.
The driver will not be charged: The driver had a concealed-carry permit and acted in the defense of himself and others, Assistant State’s Attorney Barry Quinn said in court Sunday.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again: The only thing that stops a BAD-guy with a gun, is a GOOD-guy with a gun.
To my beloved,
I know that we have not known each other very long. We both walked different, difficult paths, but those paths brought us together. The moment I laid eyes on you at the shelter, I knew you were meant to be mine. We connected on such a deep and emotional level, and I knew I could never let you go.
When we first brought you home with us, you hid yourself away, afraid that your prior experiences with humans may become reality, once again. But as time went on, you started to show us what an adventurous, fun-loving pup you really are! You made yourself at home and eventually felt safe enough to cuddle with us, which warmed our hearts more than anything in this world!
This is not to say that you were always an angel; sometimes you did silly things that made us frown, but forgiving you and playing with those floppy ears came so easily, it was hard to remember why were upset in the first place!
Today, we are overjoyed to celebrate your 5th Birthday, alongside of mine. You have made us a family, Ralph, and as long as we live, we will always love you. We will always cherish you and respect you as a member of our family. We will always protect you and keep you out of harms way. Thank you for helping me heal and feel whole again, while I was in the midst of the storm. Thank you for being such a wonderful friend and fur-baby.
Happy Birthday, Ralphie! Mommy loves tons!!
All of My Love,
So a County Sheriff just stalked Ralph and I for almost half of our walk before finally getting out of his car and asking to pet him. I’m not going to lie, I thought it was pretty cute!
Little did I know that the Officer had just put down his 13 year old beagle last week.
His heartache was palpable and I’m sure that spending some time with my little guy helped him in some way, but little did he know, for I needed that interaction as well.
This made me literally jump for joy!
As a child who came from humble beginnings, I know what it is like to have very little food certain days, or not enough money to buy a school lunch. Getting shoo’ed away by a lunch lady for something that costs $1.50 should be an experience that NO child should ever have to endure. Finally, the Baltimore City School System is doing something right for these young Americans!
For the first time in the history of the school lunch program, all children in Baltimore are created equal. Beginning this week, every student in the city, regardless of income level, is being offered free breakfast and lunch under a federal program that allows school districts to eliminate a decades-old meal-subsidy structure for students in high-poverty schools. Baltimore is among a handful of districts in Maryland taking advantage of the opportunity that was opened to schools nationwide last year. Maryland schools are able to adopt the program under state legislation passed this year in the General Assembly. Del. Keith Haynes, chief sponsor of the legislation, said Tuesday during an announcement at Beechfield Elementary/Middle School that the law is the “great equalizer” for city students, closing one more gap that exists from socio-economic disparities.
